I don't know what it is about it... I don't think I like how much the logo stands out.

The blur on the Ubuntu logo ruins this for me. The blur makes the focus move to the background rather than the Ubuntu logo itself. If you got rid of the blur on the logo, and instead blur the background, then it would be better.

The Ubuntu logo looks pixelly, I think you should use the one from here, which is SVG and thus can scale as much as you want it to. Also, it is still too blurry, try not applying any effects to the Ubuntu logo itself.
