Purging my system of Firefox nightlys and reverting to the latest stable release

I can't remember which guide I used to install the nightly alpha/beta versions of Firefox, but I want to revert back to the latest stable release and don't know how. Via synaptic I removed the Firefox version 3.6.18 beta which also removed Firefox-4.0 beta. And now Firefox won't load at all. I'm lost. How do I safely purge my system of the ppa Firefox versions installed and then revert back to the latest stable release?

    I am running 64bit Ubuntu 10.10.
    My rig:
    IBM Personal System/2 Model 30-286 - - Intel 80286 (16 bit) 10 Mhz - - 1MB DRAM - - Integrated VGA Display adapter
1.44MB capacity Floppy Disk - - PS/2 keyboard (no mouse)

do you have ubuntu tweak installed ?

go to "package cleaner" then "purge ppa"

use this to deselect the ppa & it will do the rest for you.

Thanks flipper T: the ubuntu-tweak app worked like a charm. My system has been purged of all Firefox alpha/beta software. I am running the stable release of Firefox 4.
