    iPhone Disk Image

    Hi guys

My daughter recently deleted a whole load of photos from my iPhone4 which I desperately want back.

I have searched the net for a couple of days and found a bit of information on doing this via SSH with a jailbroken phone but I do not want to jailbreak my phone.

I have now installed Ubuntu because of it's built in iPhone support via libimobiledevice etc. My thinking is ...

    1. Mount the iPhone in readonly mode with Ubuntu
    2. Create a raw disk image of the phone with dd (dd_rescue).
    3. Recover my photos with something like PhotoRec

My problem is I can't find the mount point for the phone when I plug it in. The system recognizes the phone and I can browse it etc but I can't find ant mount information which I require for doing the disk image with dd.

    Anyone have any ideas please!!!

I must also mention I am a complete linux noob although I am and have been a windows programmer for 20 years so I am at least computer savvy.

    Regards
