Question Making a USB-install from Win XP?

So my friend's cd-drive (and WinXP-installation) is busted and I'm googling for the ubuntu-install from usb-stick solution. The solutions I'm seing seems to work IF I already have a linux-dist running.

Is there a way to prepare the USB-stick from WinXP? Considering that 8.10 went live today it would be a blast to let him have that.

    Oscar,

Grab a copy of the Windows version if UNetbootin to do that for you. It creates a great menu for booting and/or installing the OS.

    UNetbootin

There is mention of better USB install support in the release notes for 8.10, but in the meantime this is the easiest option for getting it working under Windows.
