    LinkSys WMP54G v7

    Hello @all,
i have a problem with the wireless pci card of Linksys.

    Code:

So if I understand correctly is the pci card has been recognized and has a RaLink chip RT61
However, it is to me neither Ifconfig still under Iwconfig as an interface.

    Somebody have any idea?
    An addition:
I once looked to these instructions:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...ver/RalinkRT61

And then, when I go to the search module rt67 I dont find it. For me it is rt61pci Here are the query

    Code:
    modinfo rt61pci
    answer:
    Code:
    filename: /lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/rt2x00/rt61pci.ko

    vermagic: 2.6.24-16-generic SMP mod_unload
I should just follow the instructions to the latest Ralink drivers?
Or rather could lead to problems?

However, it is to me neither Ifconfig still under Iwconfig as an interface.
I don't understand this at all. Can you please explain?

I think I do understand this from ifconfig:
    Code:
wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet Hardware Adresse xxxxxxxx
              inet Adresse:xxxxxxxx7 Bcast:xxxxxxxxxx5 Maske:xxxxxxxxxx0
              RX bytes:82157 (80.2 KB) TX bytes:43044 (42.0 KB)
    and this, from iwconfig:
    Code:
    wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"xxxxxxx"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: xxxx
They both suggest you are connected and have an IP address. The only thing I see I might change is:
    Code:
    Bit Rate=1 Mb/s
If you are surfing the web, I'm sure it's sloooowwwww! Please try
    Code:
    sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate auto
I wouldn't be looking for new drivers if I could connect out of the box!

    Re: LinkSys WMP54G v7

    Sorry,
the interface wlan0 is an other uinterfsce. Is an Dlink USb Stick that i use at one moment.
You can find the PCI card if you serch it.
But i dont find an interface of it.

    thats my problem.

    and one failure more.
    I have an WMP54G v4.5 not v7, sorry.

I have tested ndiswrapper but it is not possible tu use the card.
The driver is installed already, but i dont find the card as interface.

    Re: LinkSys WMP54G v7

Network Manager, which is installed by default, will not like two interfaces with two IP addresses at one time. Neither will your computer, unless you are connection sharing and one of the cards supports ap mode. Not all do. Please detach the D-Link USB and do:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe rt61pci
    sudo lshw -C network
    iwconfig
    Let us know.
