Good morning. I am a recent member to the Ubuntu-Indiana loco (living just east of Indianapolis and being a two-year user of K/Ubuntu, it seemed like the logical thing to do). Although I might add that despite the fact that I have been using Linux for so long, in many ways I am still a newb. Anyway, I have never used IRC, and when I saw that this group had meetings on IRC, I figured it was time to sign up and be ready (even though Monday nights are not the best night for me). I think I am properly configured using KSirc, and maybe I should stick with that. However, I am a long-time user of Gaim/Pidgin, and knowing IRC is one of the many platforms it connects with, I am trying to get myself set up on that. I can connect to irc.freenode.net, but I don't see/know how to change to a different channel. Can anyone help? Or should I just stick with KSirc?

I believe the command to join a room is /j #roomname so to join the room the command is /j #ubuntu-indiana
Thanks. That worked. Now I know how to get on when the time comes.
