Lightbulb New user - coming from cbpp and changing to ubuntu

    Hello,
I am quite new to the world of linux. I was using CrunchBang++ for several months now, which, in my opinion, is the perfect solution for my needs.
In the latest versions I encountered some problems, which are too extended for my knowledge, even with a lot of googling, I didn't manage to fix them.
I was trying to understand the whole CBPP system, how it works and how it is build. (debian, openbox, tint2, e.t.c.) As debian has older packages, I want to switching to an ubuntu server base and building the openbox environment from scratch. After some days I found out, that this project is better to run in a virtual box and having another version of linux running for the daily needs . (you won't set everthing up in 1-2 days with my level of knowledge and there are so many packages that you need to install where I never heared of yet )

So I tried out Ubuntu (Gnome). As I am using a german keyboard on my laptop and want to use LUKS, I have the problem, that even when I change all the keyboards to german, it is still using the us-keyboard while prompting for the luks password. I managed to install everything in german with the keyboard and everything, now the keyboard is the right one, but when I change the system language to english, some home folders keep their german names. Even with "dpkg-reconfigure locales". I also followed this post: https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubunt...nguage.html.en

Maybe someone can give me a hint with my problem

    thanks alot

    Hi,
first I selected the English language, but then I couldn't select German as keyboard, so I went full German to get the right keyboard for the LUKS prompt, and then I wanted to change the system language to English US.
