Live usb with local casper-rw. Speed compromise?

From what I understand, after boot of live disk, the machine would run as fast as if it was a local install right?
question 2, can casper-rw be on a local drive and what would be performance implacation?"

Try both. See what happens. There are too many variables involved to answer.
Be certain to measure everything scientifically. Avoid, "it feels faster" answers. Get real numbers.

Can you suggest a method to objectively record that experiment? I have herd of "benchmark testing" but knowing the term is as far as my know how goes on such things. I'm usually doing things that you don't test, you just know they are slow lol

Make a group of experiments just like in high school science class. Use measurement tools like you did then. A watch could be handy. Benchmarks aren't really useful, since nobody actually uses a computer in that way. Do everything exactly the same way, in the same order, in both trials.
