    CMS site development tools

    Hello everyone,
I'm just an ICT teacher in a Greek Junior High School, the Windows system admin, technical support to adults ICT lessons plus any data entry that you can imagine, now somehow they managed to make me plus school's site's designer. So I'll use Ubuntu 14.04 as OS and I decided to use Drupal, after some research that I have done. Though I can't decide between lamp or xampp, lamp is the linux "native" tool but xampp has that Perl advantage. So my question is, for Ubuntu 14.04, using Drupal, lamp or xampp???
    Thanks in Advance
    Thomas

The LAMP stack is the more well-known of the two, and most documentation is aimed at it, rather than XAMPP. If I were you, I'd go with LAMP - the documentation here is very good.

As for Drupal vs anything else, IMO they're all much of a muchness. Pick one, try it, see if you like it. If you're at a school though, most of my previous educational establishments have used Moodle as their website / course environment, so I'd definitely try that out.
