CF card reader damaged my CF card.

Hi, I just bought a cf card reader on ebay, used it to upload my pics from my dslr to my laptop. but when i put it back in my camera it didnt recognise it. i then realised that the card reader had a bent pin. it was bent in a way that 2 pins went into one of the holes in the CF card. i assume there is no way to fix the CF card and the damage is unrepairable.....?

It depends on which pins. Normally voltage and ground are carried on the outer pins (either 3.3 or 5VDC). I would try to reformat within the camera or another computer with a card reader. Was this reader used or new/retail?
