Greetings fellow linux users and Wisconsinites alike! My name is Marc Brown, I'm a computer enthusiast and am also employed in the IT field. I've been using Linux as my sole OS for the past year now and have been using it off and on for about 7+ years. Unfortunately in the business environment i work in *nix is unappreciated and often sought as unprofessional! With that in mind i need an outlet for my Linux passion, a place of comfort and like minded individuals (and maybe a couple of brews) I know there are more of you out there like me and i'd love to meet you! I think a fox valley team would be ideal because all of us have different passions and different skills that we could pass on to each other to learn and grow ourselves and the group. And with the fox valley area being so compact finding a time/place to meet in person wouldn't be too much of an issue! I would love for the group to be able to spread the word of Free and Open Source Software through meetings and informational seminars (much like the one's i've seen given in the Milwaukee area by some Wisconsin Loco members) Fox Valley Tech is often a place that people hold these types of meetings as I recall a few being held there in the past when I was attending. Also I think we could contribute greatly to our community, we could use our skills to volunteer around the community and recycle some old PC's to local charities such as the boys and girls club or some local daycares! Whats cooler than getting children into FOSS in their growing stages? nothing, that's what! If anyone is interested let me know via a PM or a reply! I'll be subscribed to this post.
