    Can't get Ubuntu to install...

I downloaded today the AMD64 version of Ubuntu 10.10 and cannot get it to install or boot from the disk I burned shortly after I got it downloaded. Every time I get an error stating that it "can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs". Any clue how to fix this? Windows just crapped out on it and I thought I'd give this a try. Any help would certainly be appreciated.

Perhaps you should try burning the image again:

    Hi, welcome to the fora.

If you create a USB stick with Unetbootin for installation, does it work better?

Checked hash numbers and they are identical. Don't have any CD-R's at home, will have to check that tomorrow.

Will run downstairs and try Unetbootin quick and will reply back.

Reburn the ISO at the slowest possible speed supported by your burner. Or use a USB stick.

downloading the iso via torrent is helpful, as the torrent client will conduct hash check for you.

    Reporting back...

    Unetbootin didn't work.
Burned the ISO at the slowest speed possible. Didn't work burning off both my Mac and PC.
Couldn't get to burn to USB.

Will be picking up CD-R's tomorrow hopefully. Read that might make a difference. Will report back w/ results.
