10.10 issue, wifi not connecting when on battery

Strange one this I've been using Ubuntu for ages and decided to do an upgrade to 10.10 which worked fine, but after a drive change I did a fresh install now I have wifi issues, it manifests this way

on mains everything works as it should, no problems resuming etc.

when on mains if I remove the power and switch to battery my computer drops the wifi, it searches as if its going to reconnect but never does and just keeps asking for password.

If I reboot the machine on battery wifi works no problem, if I hibernate or go to sleep when on battery on resume wifi will not connect.

When on mains wifi sleep/resume works flawlessly.

Any clue as to what the issue is I know the hardware is supported as I;'ve been running Ubuntu for 2 years on this machine.

the machine in question is standard netbook hardware an eeePC 1000H

    Cheers

I had the same problem and followed the steps given here (http://www.twentyways.com/2010/11/19...-ubuntu-10-10/) and that solved it.
For information, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on eeePC 901.

Superb, that appears to have done the trick, no more needless restarts for me
