Jolicloud?

I've just found out about a Distro called Jolicloud (http://www.jolicloud.com/) its based of Ubuntu and designed for Netbooks from what I here?

I currently have Jolicloud 1.0 installed on my Acer netbook (532h) and it had the best hardware compatibility out of all the distros I tried (UNE (Lucid and Maverick), Mint 9, EasyPeasy, Moblin, Meego, WattOS).
It's not bad but the battery life is still a couple of hours less than Win7, so I will keep Jolicloud until I find a distro with better battery life.

I tried Jolicloud and thought it was excellent especially if you have an interest is using a 'touchscreen'.

I don't have a need for a touchscreen and I use Peppermint Ice because it is compact and fast. It is also Ubuntu based and is in a more traditional format. It is stripped down but all the usual Ubuntu apps can be added in the usual way. It is 'Cloud-centric' and you can even set up your own direct connection to the web; avoiding the need for a browser. Nice effective and friendly forum too!

I haven't applied any benchmarking but I am convinced I get a longer battery life with Peppermint Ice.

I haven't tried it yet, but if you are seeing good battery life, I'm definitely trying it out this weekend.

Posting back from my Acer 532h netbook which is now triple-booting Win7, Jolicloud, and Peppermint One 08042010.

The following times are as reported by the system and not based on actual measurements.

With Win7, the reported battery time is around 7.5 hrs (8.5 with wifi off).
With Peppermint, the reported battery time is around 6.5 hrs (7 with wifi off). So that's a slight improvement over other distros.

I'm still trying to determine if my fan stays on all the time, because if it does stay on, that might be bringing down the battery life. I believe there is a way to fix the fan issue for Acer, I should have it bookmarked somewhere.

Of all the OS's I've tried, Peppermint was the best out-of-the-box experience, and did not require additional tweaks for touchpad scrolling and internal mic with skype.

Compared to Gnome, LXDE does feel a little minimal, but that's probably a big reason for the better battery life that I'm seeing. So, I'm sticking with this for now.

I wonder if 'Peppermint Ice' is just that little bit better?

I use 'Peppermint Ice' on a 2GB USB drive and I don't know how long the battery lasts but it goes for a long time. I use it as my connection to the web via Google Docs, Gmail, Dropbox and a web based accounting app. Since it doesn't carry any extras it is extremely undemanding.

You might go a little further with Peppermint Ice!

I installed Jolicloud on my netbook on Friday and immediately fell in love with it. It does everything I need, is simple to use and it's pretty. I had wubi before, but I think I'll be sticking with Jolicloud now.

You can try the Jolicloud OS (cloud portion) through your Chrome browser (don't know about Chromium) at http://my.jolicloud.com/welcome. Neat concept.

I think if the price is sufficiently low enough, it could work out great! I'd love to get a Jolibook though wonder how well will it be maintained.
