Ubuntu to Fedora -> Copy and paste Ubuntu's Home folder into Fedora..?

I installed Lucid on top of Karmic on a friend's PC and I did a straight copy of her old Home folder into the new one and it worked flawlessly.

Can I do the same from Karmic to Fedora? Lucid won't install on my PC... :/

EDIT: I also would do this if I were to go with Debian, which I could just as well do instead of Fedora...

Any idea..? I never tried another distro than Ubuntu so I'm wondering if it'd work this way too...
