problems with installing software from ubuntu software center

I'm having problems with the ubuntu software center. When I try to install any software it does nothing when I click the install button. I can click on the visit website page and download the source and compile it manually but I was under the assumption that you could use the install button and it would do it automatically for you. Am I wrong? I am running UNR 9.10 on an Acer Aspire One 110-1588. Thank you very much.

Did you try install with synaptic and witch results you get?If you can not install with synaptic then in applications>accessories>terminal type

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

and post output here.
