I did get it to work in Maverick on a 2010 MacBook Pro, after a lot of restarting and throwing about of more terminal commands than I'm used to applying. (It rejected the mactel repository until after I updated to Maverick)

Is it typical for the thumb-recognition to function intermittently? It works right when I set down my thumb and index finger down, but the cursor just kind of sticks occasionally. The driver works like a charm, otherwise, but a tiny problem every few seconds can be as bad as a big problem.

I just installed it all following the instructions on page 13 and now Linux won't boot LOL!

Integrated button support for the Magic Trackpad

Just pushed a small patch that recognizes the Magic Trackpad as an integrated button device. This enables the special click-and drag logic also found on the later Macbooks.

    Enjoy,
    Henrik

I have a VAIO with the Magic Trackpad of Apple and it works great, thanks a lot!

I just have one issue: With the actual click on the new pads, the Tap-to-click behavior is annoying. How can it be deactivated?

Thanks again for the good job.

    OK, found it
I changed in memory.c the easy to understand:
    #define use_tapping 0

    Recompiled, installed and worked immediately.

So, one last question: Do you plan integration with gpointing-device-settings for configuration of multitouch? Or you will have your own configuration tool?

Hope this driver will be distributed soon

    Hi,

First thanks for this nice work, it's really annoying to have a Macbook and not be able to use all its functionalities on a Linux system.

I just have a bug and wasn't able to find a bug tracker to fill it, so i will post it here.

The driver work very well when you adjust some parameters, but sometimes it crash, its random, don't know exactly when it happens, or why. Here is a paste from my Xorg.0.log :

    [ 14705.358] (II) pointer_property

Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

how hard would it be to add 4 or 5 finger gestures, because i would like to code in the shortcuts to enter expose mode on compiz and other stuff, and is there a plan for a customizable GUI soon? Also, how would one go along adding to the code to set off keystrokes instead of buttons, since the expose mode with compiz by four finger vertical scroll and alt-tab application switching is my most critical want from multitouch.

    Help!!!

I get some weird issues using this driver with Maverick.
Sometimes I'm not able to take a click, sometimes the mouse moves to the left edge and stays there whatever I do.
This happens without any reason during the day.

Any ideas how to fix this?

    xf86-input-multitouch v1.0-rc2 released

This release is foremost about helping out getting fully functional integrated trackpads for maverick, both the macbook and the wireless ones. To that end, this version is also available in the Mactel PPA, and can be downloaded as
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install xf86-input-multitouch
A minimal setup to go into /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Code:
    Section "InputClass"
        MatchIsTouchpad "true"
        Identifier "Multitouch Touchpad"
        Driver "multitouch"
    EndSection
Please note that there is (still) no configuration possibilities. I anyone wants to step forwards and implement it, please do.

    Shortlog since v1.0-rc1 appended.

    Enjoy,
    Henrik

Enable integrated button support for the Magic Trackpad
Adjust thumb detection based on kernel touch width...
    Do not grab by default
    Turn tapping on by default
Support palm detection for trackpads without width support
Increase vscroll speed by a factor of two
    Package as xf86-input-multitouch

Re: new xf86-input for macbooks and other multitouch-touchpads.

Henrik, you made my day!! This update is just lovely.. i can confirm that i can now select text by dragging and move windows with the integrated touchpad on a macbook pro mid 2009 with maverick.
I believe that i have to use more 'pressure' now to do a tap - sometimes i try to tap, but it does not get recognized. I'm not even sure if it depends on just the pressure or maybe even the size of the part of my finger which is touching the touchpad. Thanks so much for this update!
