Dell Latitude E6400 fan and noise problems. Solutions?

Hey there,

I'm thinking about buying a Dell Latitude E6400, but I read in various forum posts [1,2,3,4] that this model has problems with Ubuntu. In particular, the fan seems to run all the time (and not too slow, but very loud) ...

I was wondering if any E6400 owners have been able to solve this problem?!
What does the Dell support say about this? Are they going to fix this?

Please tell me about your experiences.
