I've been idling the #ubuntu-au channel here and there for a while now and like this forum, it seems deathly quiet...
Are there any active Australian Ubuntu-ers around here?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Whether you think you can, or you can't, you're right.

I'm here, so is head_victim, I'm still checking out the forums all the time, can't explain why they're quiet in this particular neck of the wood, but if you need anything I'm here

Yeah, it's pretty crazy!
The thing is that until you have someone actually try to get into your system you're not entirely sure on just how secure it is.
As far as I'm aware I have no hardware linked up to a service that offers a 'remote shutdown'.
The next step for me I assume is encrypting my hard drive.

Yep, I'm still lurking. Trying to do a Master's degree part time while working full time is a bit of an effort. My time for anything other than sleep, work and study is kind of limited.
More than happy to help out with ideas and support though, just not as much of the driving local events as I'd like to.
Speaking of which, if anyone was interested in organising a release party now is the time to consider it. All you need to do is:
* pick a date and time
* pick a venue
* add event to loco.ubuntu.com
* send email to the mailing list
* enjoy the company of any other local Ubuntu users that drop by to say hello.
If any of that sounds hard just let me know and I'll show you how to make it easy.
I didn't even realize there was an Australia Team forum.
I just replied to a thread I noticed on the main forums page.
It was only after following the links in head_victim's post that I
realized where I posted.
Wondered why Scott asked "Why is this place so quiet?" when the forums always seemed busy to me.
Hello from a new member to the forum. I've been a fan of Linux for a long time and finally decided to become more involved in the community so I've been researching this morning and found out about the AU ubuntu team and this forum.
I plan to enjoy actively participating going forward. I haven't been on IRC for years but it looks like I'll be loading up an IRC client and meeting people in the IRC channels listed on the AU team wiki.
KInd Regards
Glenn
