This Ubuntu Studio development update tells us the boot issues have been resolved, but the installer front-end still has issues due to a known bug. A work around is provided so we can install the noble (24.04) daily. The rest of this post is the original update made 14-December-2023.

Season Of KDE 2024 Projects
Johnny Jazeix and Joseph P. De Veaugh-Geiss report on the 'Season of KDE 2024 Projects'. We're told 18 projects have been selected, with thanks given to the new contributors. Further is given some details on Translation Projects, Kdenlive, KDE Eco/Accessibility, Cantor/LabPlot, and KWin; which make up those 18 selected projects. Some details (including names of contributors & mentors) are given, and we're told we can follow progress on KDE's Planet.

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS To Ship With Some Extra GNOME Performance Optimizations
Michael Larabel writes about some of the extra GNOME Performance Optimizations that are carried by both Ubuntu 24.04 LTS now, and in upstream Debian. We're told of Daniel van Vugt's work, that hasn't been merged upstream into GNOME. We're given details of the patches, including some impacted hardware, and told there is an expectation that Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will carry these patches even if not accepted upstream in time.

GNOME 45.3 Released to Allow Sharing of WPA3 (SAE) Networks with QR Code
Marius Nestor reports the release of GNOME 45.3 by the GNOME Project. We're given some details of what is included in this update for bugs and the added enhancements, which includes a Mutter 45.3 update, GNOME Control Center networks (share WPA3 {SAE}), and much more. The KDE Plasma 6.0 Default Wallpaper is a Real Winner
Joey Sneddon reminds us that KDE devs launched a contest to select a new default wallpaper for KDE Plasma 6.0. We're told this contest "garnered a lot of attention" with many stand-out submissions.
