I did look for the newer kernel but didn't see it in the list. Do you know what the title is specifically or what letters it begins with?
That would be terrific if running under a newer kernel...

I only have a choice of 3.2.0.xx when the GRUB Menu appears.
I am only offered the 3.2.0.XX in my GRUB Menu (no other versions to choose from).
I did an upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10 using the software updater:
