You are using netplan or network/interfaces. Do not try and use both as netplan will just bulldog through.
If you are getting the correct IP, check your services cofig file and make sure they...
Bonding wired and wireless will not work. Trust me. And wifi on a non-gui system is also a headache. If you really want it, go buy an AP that will do client mode bridging and use that.
But if...
Can I get an "Amen!" :) But I would say since 12.04. I skipped 16 for production as it was not too stable. And while 18.04 was a big improvement, there are still a lot of things making me wonder...
I am not sure exactly what you need, but you can install an imap server that is not pointed to an MTA and just use it for storage. Can be useful if your primary mail service does not have a lot of...
May I suggest something different? Hard drives are cheap, and my time has value. Just install to a new (and faster) hard drive and then copy the old apps. As for what was installed, this is a...
You have a few different problems in your post.
1) Installs do not work.
2) You can not install SAMBA.
3) Is NFS better than Samba, and how do I install it?
Let me skip 1) for a second...
This is usually handled in your router or Internet gateway device. It needs to be set on a place when you can actually create DNS entries, not just proxy them.
How did you configure networking on the host system?
Do you get the Grub bootloader? Can you boot to a cli and look at the logs?
Are you wanting to install, or upgrade an existing install? The partitions are different because 18 uses a swap file as opposed to a swap partition like in 16.
You can try lftp, which is similar to rsync but for ftp. Some info here. http://rajaseelan.com/2011/12/20/rsync-over-ftp/
There is Server, and Live Server. The differences are talked about here. https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2390785 The traditional version is on the page you linked.
No, it will just discover it. But the reason it is there is for startup sounds. Some slow booting appliances play a sound when fully booted. It is very handy.
I am not seeing a lot of good information on this. I suspect it may be something they are "working on" as it is still new. So I would fall back to the old tools.
Is there some reason Ubuntu can not find the drivers?
Make sure the Wifi card is not switched off. Check for a hardware switch or a soft switch in the bios.
You never said how you are connecting. scp? cifs? nfs? One test is try to connect in a different way and see if you still have the same issue.
How are you copying it? What format, connection errors... Have you tried other formats? Getting to 2 gig and crashing out sounds like a file system error. Can it support large files?
If the update is written to the part of the drive that is failing... What does SMART say?
I guess doing dhcp twice is a bad thing. :)
Did you run updates? How are you mounting nfs?
OK, so this is driving a nail with a bullet, but...
The easiest way to do a full image backup is to start with a virtual machine. Set up a server with KVM and install your web server there. (And...
Is it only one VM that is shutting down?
