    Hi kosumi,

Thank you for your help. I tried but it's ineffective. I've also tried to remove pommed (and it seems I didn't need it anyway), but the original fix still doesn't work...

    Is there...

I'm using the most recent Karmic, as of today.

LCD brightness, keyboard brightness and sound work but none of them did out of the box. I had to install packages from the Mactel Jaunty PPA, and for...

[all variants] [SOLVED] Invert the fn key behavior?

    Hi,

I'm on Karmic on a Macbook Pro 5,5. I got everything setup fine, except for the fn key. I have to press "fn" to get regular F1, F2, etc. I would like to invert that, have directly F1, F2 and...

Did anyone try Karmic on a 1000HA, to tell us if the wireless works out of the box without having to install drivers manually?

On a EEE PC, here is your possibilities to get Ubuntu:
    * Install a vanilla ubuntu - most of the peripherals won't work. You need to install Array's kernel, then some ACPI scripts.

Flock has nothing to do with Opera. It's precisely Firefox+some improvements.
  8. Re: [School project]Need help with a software development budget

If it's just what you're describing, with support for mass storage devices only,
using a high-level language such as Python or Ruby it can be done in one month or two months by one good developper....

Re: holy wow - go team ubuntu

Well, the help on the forum is not as good as the Gentoo's one. If you ask a very specific question, and the solution is not just "sudo apt-get install XXX", you may not get an answer.

    But you...

    Re: Windowmaker is quite cool.

Afterstep is older than WindowMaker. Moreover it's basically a fork of FVWM while WindowMaker has been written from scratch, being then a (relatively) modern window manager.

    Re: Windowmaker is quite cool.

WindowMaker is old, yes, and it used to be the most advanced WindowManager before KDE and Gnome exist. It's a clone of the NextStep interface.

Some people like it, other don't... Personally I...

    I have a question:
    - Are you a developer, or computer scientist?
    - How do you make money?

    Re: Flock

It is basically a Firefox 1.5 with some additions (= extensions), so this is why it is faster than FF1.0.7, and it supports FF extensions.

It should be compared with Firefox 1.5, not with 1.0.7.

This will be much clearer for everyone.

Re: Python or Ruby, which one to learn first?

I love Ruby, and I prefer it over Python. It's younger, so it benefits from experience of both Perl and Python. It is pure object, and give more freedom to the developer.
