Acer Aspire 5740G-6979 works perfectly even with the ati driver in the repos.

I have always bad luck getting 3d graphics to work, but with this ATI mobility radeon HD 5650 and Ubuntu 10.04 it worked right out of the box.

Dell Inspiron E1505 with Intel Core 2 Duo, Sigmatel Audio card(not sure specifically), ATI Mobile Radeon X1400, Dell Wireless-N Card(once again not sure specifically). Everthing works just fine, except that I can get Ubuntu to recognize my HDTV from the VGA port, even so far as being able to determine that it's a Sony HDTV and the available resolutions, however, it will not send a signal to it. I just installed 2 days ago, and have had limited time to tinker, and have never used any Linux distro before, so I may run into more problems later.

Dell Latitude E6400, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M, Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100.. Everything appears to be working great in Ubuntu for almost a year.. Currently running Jaunty on this machine but have ran live cd of Lucid and also appears to work fine..

    Re: Fully functioning linux laptop?

Both of my systems specs are listed below, i have had no trouble with either machine. When i first set up my Laptop i had to configure the ALSA because my microphone jack was turned all the way up causing a weird buzzing noise in my speakers. This option was not available in the GUI so i had to do it at command line. But, since then the options have been moved to the GUI.

Ive had my laptop for 4 years running ubuntu it still purrs like a kitten.

Linux works partially with my laptop-I will post the specific problem(s)
    Toshiba Satallite L505 ES5025 Installed Ubuntu 10.04
    Problems:
    1) Numeric Key Pad Not Operational.
    2) Mic is buggy. Sound routes thru speakers but not present on a video audio conference?
Otherwise this has been a great first experience for me with Linux. Ubuntu seems fairly straight forward.
Does anyone know of a fix for either the Keypad or the Microphone?

HP 6730b (dual core 2.26ghz, 4GB RAM) - Everything works perfectly... (the built-in 3G didn't work in Fedora 13 untill I recompiled the kernel, currently running Lucid, all works (after adding gobiloader etal...)
Lenovo T63 - Everything works perfectly (excepet the touchpad, but that's cause my wife spilt a glass of red wine on the laptop... Damn thing didn't start up for a month, I replaced it with a Toshiba, and the the Lenovo decided to fire up again...)
Toshiba M400(dual core 1.8ghz, 2GB RAM & an awesome graphics card - dunno what it is, but in windows in can display 1400x1050, and running Lucid it goes up to 1600x1200... On a 12.1" screen... It's staggeringly good quality...) ) - Everything works perfectly (needed to install toshiba utils to get the hardware buttons to work, even the touch screen worked straight away with Lucid install...)
    I previously used a HP8710, Kubuntu 9.10, worked fine...

    Toshiba Satellite U300 works perfectly.
Compaq Presario A970 was overheating until newer kernels were released.

Oh, wait, currently my ******* button doesn't work, but I think I selected the wrong keyboard layout during installation... (I never used it even during windows days, so no loss...)
