No network card, trying to install wireless drivers

Hey, I'm pretty much a linux noob, and I'm trying to set up an old PC to run AdvanceMAME.

The problem is, the PC doesn't have a network card, so I have to install from tarballs. I tried installing drivers for a Wi-Fi USB dongle, but make wouldn't work.
After searching I learned that I need to install gcc first.
I have the tarball for gcc 4.3.0, but cant follow the official instructions, nor find easy to follow intructions.

I'm running 6.06 (I couldnt find my 7.10 disc and 6.06 will do what I want)

    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

What kind of hardware is this?

And, I strongly agree that you would do well to acquire a network card for this system and update that way.
