I say we change it to Guinness if we're going in that direction.

as long as we can continue with the delusion that every time the word is uttered, it has something to do with linux.

Hmm. "Ubuntu" has never struck me as a terribly competition-oriented philosophy. It's a good ideal to follow in most of life, but seems out of place in such activities as professional sports, networked FPSes, etc.

I mean, isn't this kind like a pro sports team taking the motto "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything"?

"a philosophy of life that promotes the greater good rather than individual success,"
How does that work, when there's only *one* winner? Isn't ubuntu supposed to more of a "everybody wins", or say a win-win concept? We work together, to create a more "human" world?

Of course, all the starving children in africa will now have a better life because "The Boston Celtics" is now ubuntu

I think it's more of a team orientated thing for the celtics, it's not to make any one person great, but to make the team great.

Anyways, the Celtics have a good program bringing hoops to South African kids.

Another ubuntu mention from Celtics Ray Allen
    http://www.nba.com/celtics/community...ala110607.html

Allen was especially articulate, explaining how the team has embraced the concept of "ubuntu" -- an African phrase adopted by Coach Doc Rivers as the team's motto -- which means that every team member succeeds by making his teammates better.

Celtics will use Ubuntu Linux rally cry before each game...

Did you guys see Derekr44's forum post about the Boston Celtics?

Might be a talking point for your LoCo one day:

"Now word comes, via The Boston Herald, that Linux fans may want to throw their support to Gang Green because of the team's new rallying cry, 'ubuntu.'"
