As a matter of fact it does work well in cheese. I just tried it. Any idea why it works in cheese and not VLC or Skype? Also, in Skype, the first time I tried Skype it saw the Eyetoy. It only gave me a green screen but the audio worked. Now after trying many things and suggestions to get the eyetoy working in other apps, Skype no longer sees the Eyetoy, at all, not video or audio. Is there a quick method to put Ubuntu back to it's default configuration? I may have gotten a Skype update in the process too that may have some influence.Code:is it working with cheese? (that's what mine works with well)
well... as it happens, i haven't been able to get mine to work with anything but cheese and xawtv, either. specifically not ekiga, which was what i wanted to do.
there were some changes from v4l to v4l2 and i think we may have to wait until jaunty so that all the code is updated to use v4l2.
have you tried the jaunty beta livecd, to see if it works? (i haven't... but if you have the inclination, please try and report your experiences ).
Im having trouble getting this to work.
when i try to dl the file from rasta geeks, it dosent work :[
Yeah, they update the driver every now and again so the one in the original post isn't current. Try this instead:
You will then have to adjust the number in the steps in the tutorial accordingly.Code:wget http://www.rastageeks.org/downloads/ov51x-jpeg/ov51x-jpeg-1.5.9.tar.gz
Does it flicker like that? I get grey lines through the picture in Cheese like that, it flickers on and off. Don't know how to stop it though.
--EDIT--
I just checked in xawtv, the lines are always there and annoying, is there any reason you have to use xawtv? Cheese works great =]
