    computer privacy

    Hello Ubuntuers:

Over the years, I've taken measures to keep my privacy that include:\
    • using Ubuntu,
    • using a VPN, and
    • using cloud storage on a Swiss server, and
    • getting most of my family to use an encrypted email service that only uses Swiss servers.

I'm pretty sure that many web sites know I've visited their sited since they report that they know that I
    • use Ubuntu,
    • know things about my monitor,
    • know other details about my computer.

I use Firefox ESR as my web browser.

What measures can I take to prevent web sites from knowing about my hardware, OS, and other things?

    Thanks,
    OLD

One idea is to switch to using Brave browser which offers more privacy.
And regularly clear out cookies planted when you visit sites.
Browsers with extensions installed give access to your browsing profiles.
If you have data on Swiss server it might be tresorit.com which I tried
but I am looking for open source "zerotrust" to run myself.
You might also try browsing from a desktop VM.

    P.S. another site to read.

Actually this is the internal link to read:

    Shields Up.

    Costume?

My wife bought me a Faraday 'EMF Radiation Protection' Stocking Cap... Not sure of her reasoning. But I appreciate her concerns.

Perhaps you have been put to work in the kitchen near the microwave?

Have you looked into Mullvad Browser, which is based on Firefox ESR and designed to limit fingerprinting?

Interesting find. Here is a review I found. I'll stay with Brave for sensitive sites.

Also there is this parallel forum for ideas.
