Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

My backward and forward buttons work for the most part but occasionally they do not, a reboot seems to fix this.

    Does anyone know why?

Looks like the same warnings hubacap is getting... not sure what that wacom stuff is, since I don't have a tablet or anything like that. The Logitech G7 mouse and a Microsoft Keyboard are the only input devices I have.
I have the same setup and get the same thing, the repetition and all. To boot up properly make sure that you say evdev for BOTH the driver and the Protocol.

Then you should boot up as I. However, I still cannot get my side button (most important) and the tilt left and right on the scroll wheel to work.

If you solved all of these issues please post.

I installed Gusty beta fresh on a drive and only did xmodmap, and my mouse won't do my forward back thingy.

Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.10 and 7.04

Can't wait to see the Gusty revision of this, I need to update mine... I didn't change anything from 6.10 to 7.04 and its been complaining about not referencing something directly as they might change with a future kernel revision. More details next time I reboot, but I think it was udev related and that hopefully isn't required anymore anyway.

Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

This guide doesn't work for me anymore in Gutsy, it worked in both Feisty and Edgy.

The thing is, I followed the guide and got it working, I even rebooted a couple of times and it still worked. But suddenly the mouse stoped working, I had to revert back to the "mouse0" to get the damn thing working again.

The resolution thing still works, but if I try to change the settings to "evdev" "corepointer", it stops working

My xorg.conf (relevant part of it)
I even disabled the wiimote but it did not solve the issue with the mouse

Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

Hello all.. another part-time convert joins the forums.

Been planning to sign up to these forums for a couple days, but this guide was so helpful i simply had to say: MAJOR THANKS to all those involved in the creation and evolution of this guide. Been struggling to put my mouse buttons to good use for a couple days now. Until I found this guide.

One minor thing that kept me busy for a while: Trying to save a few "sudo"s, I opened a Root Terminal and followed the guide there. This naturally caused the "gedit ~/.xbindkeysrc" command to create the config file in the Root directory, rather than in the Home of my ordinary user. Obviously, this prevented the mouse buttons from functioning as I intended... until I learned my lesson:

"When a guide tells you to issue a command without "sudo" in front of it, it's not always because the command itself doesn't *require* Root access"

Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

I'm having trouble getting my MX518 to work on Gutsy Gibbon.
I can't get the backward and forward button to be recognized.
Whenever I try to set the driver to "evdev" and i reboot, i get put into low graphics mode because it doesn't recognize the mouse or something. When I have the protocol set to ImPS/2 the back+forward button instead of 6 7 is interpreted as 2 and 3 according to xev. when i use ExplorerPS/2 those two buttons aren't recognized at all, xev returns some thing that ends with a lot of 0 0 0s and no button number.

Any idea how to fix this?

Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

I'm in the same boat. My mouse worked fine in Feisty, but won't work at all now that I've upgraded to Gutsy.

cat /proc/bus/input/devices will show the USB hub but not the mouse itself. Any suggestions?

    EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot...

Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

    I have two mice. A logitech mx310 and a logitech lx3.

The mx310's (5) buttons all work (except for cruise control). The 2 side buttons work correctly.

I am having an issue with my lx3 (3 button mouse with tilt wheel). The middle button is recognized (it doesn't cruise control but that's not important to me), but the tilt wheel's back/forward button functions don't work.

Is there a way to define the tilt wheel's back/forward buttons by modifying some magic text file?

I have followed the guide, but have encountered a couple problems.

    1) If I set my Driver to "evdev", X won't start.
    2) When I sudo lomoco -8, I get the following error:

004.002: 046d:c044 Unsupported Logitech device: USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse

I would attach /proc/bus/input/devices and xorg.conf instead of straight up posting it to save space, but the system won't let me for some reason. I will just post it if someone thinks it's important.
