Increase Sound volume?

Unfotunately i am hard of hearing and although i have set the volume control to its highest setting (on the taskbar), i am stil having difficulty hearing sound from video's and cd's. Is there a way to increase the sound volume i have not tried yet? thanks in advance for any help or advice.

If you click Sound Settings you can increase the volume to over 100%. However this might make some sounds distorted (esp music) but you can give it a try. I find that VLC also allows to increase sounds more than other players.
