Re: MX700 mouse's sidebuttons not recognized

Without xbindkeys xev shows the button-presss and -release events, I already checked that it works in Firefox. So far so good, however Nautilus does not work without the xbindkeys (but it didn't work with it either).

The problem then becomes how to get Nautilus working. :/

I wanted to know the button numbers shown in xev, but since they work in Firefox, they should be 6 an 7 then. So, the problem is most likely in xbindkeys or xvkbd.

I'm trying to get this to work on a 6.06 amd64 install... anyone have ideas where I can find a amd64 build of evdev 1.0.0.5? I can't find it anywhere

I have a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 connected through USB and sharing with the comfort keyboard. Would this guide help it's functionality? I often have trouble clicking the mouse button. This problem is specific to linux.

    Help would be most appreciated.

I think it should, but I would recommend trying the current evdev driver first with the Microsoft mouse since the new evdev driver only seems to break with the Logitech MX500. Also, the .Xmodmap file and part of the .xbindkeysrc file (the click part) I have are Logitech MX500 specific.

    sigh...

I can't get any of this to work. I have the mx518 mouse. I'm running Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake. I downgrade evdev in the details provided at the beginning of the howto.

My xorg.conf is setup as specified:

    Code:
    Section "InputDevice"
    	Identifier	"Configured Mouse"
    	Driver "evdev"
    	Option "CorePointer"
    	Option "Device"	"/dev/input/event1"
    EndSection
    cat /proc/bus/input/devices produces the following:

    Code:
    I: Bus=0003 Vendor=046d Product=c01e Version=2200
    N: Name="Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse"
    P: Phys=usb-0000:00:02.0-1/input0
    S: Sysfs=/class/input/input1
    H: Handlers=mouse0 event1 ts0
    B: EV=7
    B: KEY=ff0000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    B: REL=103
When I restart X, my computer freezes at a black screen with an underscore cursor and I have to reboot the PC.

Could someone find the logitech_applet-0.4test1.tar.gz file?

When I write this command in the terminal:

    Code:
     wget http://freshmeat.net/redir/logitech_applet/53319/url_tgz/logitech_applet-0.4test1.tar.gz
    I receive the following:

    OK, try this instead:

    Code:
     wget http://detyabozhye.com/other/logitech_applet-0.4test1.tar.gz
I put the tar.gz on my site
