Sound only works in certain programs

I have a problem with these new earphones I've got.

When I play music in Banshee, I can only hear the instruments and barely the voices.

However, when I play the same files in VLC, I can hear everything 100%.

Can anyone explain what is going on? Thank you.

You mean [Banshee --> Edit --> Preferences --> Extensions]?

I checked, and nothing related to audio playback.

I did edit the thread title, but only to be more clear about my problem.

I am pretty serious about this problem and would appreciate any help.

Have you got the equaliser in banshee enabled? Using that it is possible to almost remove voices by setting certain voice frequencies, generally the middle ones, too low.

No I do not have the equalizer in Banshee enabled.
