Is not the solution simple? Just take the site to a server or hosting service provider with zero downtime.

Did it sound like a complain? It was not one. Rather an observation based on the fact the we are trying very hard to introduce OSS everywhere in the scenario of aggressive marketing by others. If one major site, which is a prime source of information for us, and which we often recommend to others whom we are trying to convert, remains down, it does not help the issue that much.

Migrating to a new server isn't normally as easy as that.

EDIT: As of this post, I can get to linux.org. Hmm..

why? It would actually make more sense for linux.com to redirect to linux.org. Linux is more of an organization then commercial business. It's just that so many people are used <something>.com they type it in without thinking about it (and some people don't even know there is anything besides .com extensions out there).
Do not be afraid to joust a giant just because some people insist on believing in windmills.

Because linux.com is the official page run by the Linux Foundation while linux.org is just some squatter site that last I checked scolded visitors if they didn't include the "www." and was supported by Microsoft ads, because that is likely to leave a good impression for everyone involved *roll eyes*.
