Laptop INCOMPATIBILITY List.

1) Kubuntu 22.04 - though I've also tested on Ubuntu as well

4) Realtek ALC711-CB - Soundcard Not detectable

I hired and worked with a Linux expert for 6 hours attempting to get it to recognize and use the sof-firmware drivers, but it kept giving an error message, so it isn't recognizing my realtek soundcard and therefore has no sound. In my 3 weeks of research, no one with this model of Dell XPS has been able to resolve this issue either.

My Dell Precision 7720 Mobile Workstation is my Main PC. It is dual-boot Ubuntu 23.04/Windows 11 Insider Build. I had some sound problems until 23.04 was released. So, at least DELL should not be on the hardware incompatibility list as a brand, as some models do work. I also have a Dell Vostro 3500 that I retired last year, and it was working with what that current version of Ubuntu was at that time.

EnvyControl Optimus GPU Switcher is set to integrated graphics 780M in 7840HS. Bluetooth off. WiFi on. 1600p 240Hz 500nit screen at 20% brightness and 60Hz. Idle power draw is ~30Wh.

I have the same issue here with Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS. Haven't hired a Linux expert myself but hoping to get some insight here: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2492601
