I started using UBUNTU on my Toshiba Satellite 2455-S305. After installing I changed the appearance preferences to have some animations (none was selected by default). When i selected it, it automatically suggested/installed nVidia video driver. But when I restarted the laptop, i see just static lines (random) on the screen. I cannot read anything on the screen. I know that it logged in because I can hear the login sound (I have auto-login enabled).

Since this is the only OS on the laptop, I am not seeing any options (like recovery version) when I boot the laptop.

My computer does have a CD rom but i dont think it is working. I was unable to boot the ubuntu live cd from it. So I used a different computer to install ubuntu on my harddrive (put it in a USB enclosure).

What do i do?
