    no usb on boot

    My mobo has been refusing to respond to a usb keyboard (or any usb device) when booting. So I have manually turn off the computer and turn it on again and again until any usb ports are useable. Should I get a new mobo? I turn off the computer only every week and a half now b/c rebooting is such a pain. (It is an ECS nettle2)

    Hi.
    What's mobo mean?

    To have USB working during the boot process, as far as I know you have to have "USB legacy" enabled in BIOS. That would be the first thing I would check.

    @audiomick,

    A mo bo is a MOther BOard !

    @ubunterooster,

    It would help if you mention what kind of computer you're using. Try a different keyboard if that doesn't work, check the BIOS settings if something is not quite right. If nothing works then consider a new mobo.

    Legacy and other Bios settings are correct; (I had to check using a PS/2 keyboard) but usb keyboards, mice and external drives don't work until I reboot 20-30 times. The main function is a file server, so w/o access to the usb drives, the main exsistence of the PC is w/o use

    That sounds a bit like your USB ports are giving up the ghost.

    Re: no usb on boot

    All of them dead is a bit weird. Maybe a corrupted BIOS? By that I don't mean wrong settings, but really corrupted. That would mean a BIOS reset, or re-flashing the e-prom.

    Going by what you say, it shouldn't be the OS, because it is showing up before the OS takes over.
