Unhappy Jaunty Logs out on Video Playback

    Hello All,

I have upgraded from ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid to Ubuntu 9.04 using the update manager. Now, every time I attempt to play a video on any player, I get logged out automatically. I have no idea of whats causing the problem. Can someone tell me a remedy here?

    Configuration:
    HP6720s Compaq Laptop
    1 GB of RAM
160 GB of Hard Disk Space
1.4 GHz Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo CPU

Thanks in advance to anyone who has an answer to this!

If the screen just suddenly goes to black, and then back to the login screen, it could be an overheating problem. See if you can get any sensor package to run, such as lm-sensors or mbmon to see if temperatures are low enough. Also check that the machine is not clogged up with fluff, and is sitting on a hard surface, not a soft fluffy one, which can block airways easily.

Sorry about this . . but I tried other videos. I should have checked it before posting. Only one video showed such a behavior.

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep this in mind!
