I won't speak for everyone, but that's what I like about Arch:
- Arch keeps it simple, yet it allows me to build my system from ground up
- Rolling release (a big plus in my eyes)
- Arch doesn't include stupid features that I don't need
- Did I mentioned rolling release?

Rolling releases are overrated anyway. Most of the time, you absolutely don't need the newer version of a program. But of course, "my distro has a newer Pidgin version than yours, neener, neener!"
I use OpenSuse as a Xen dom0, and it's really good (not like I would use it for anything else, though).
