New C4480 works, but need hplip or no?

My printer (print, copy, scan) works good.

My OS is 8.04LTS.

My "hp-check -t" gets 2.8.2.

I seen that my C4480 needs hplip 2.8.5 or later.

Do I have to get the later done?

(My "hp-tool" gets my printer a 'ERROR:No device found', but
the printer works!)

If it works and you don't mind the error then don't get it.

If you have problems or don't want to see the error then get it. It's in synaptic
