    It looks like we might be on our way to overtaking the Intel team before the end of the week.

    Re: Folding@Home Team Ubuntu recruiting notice

    I'm getting a little concerned with the temp this program is taking my CPU upto, my CPU usually sits at around 33C when just doing normal net type stuff, and gets up to around 38C when playing games etc...
    With running this program it is around 40C to 42C which is the hotest I have ever seen the CPU at.. (and that's when I am doing absolutly nothing)
    Should I be at all concerned???

    CPU = AMD64 4000+

    I'm not an expert on cooling, but I think 40 deg C is OK for a processor. My laptop has a Pentium M, and that thing is usually around 40-50C. Sometimes it gets up to 70C. Google for your processor's specs if you're concerned.

    Ok, I just joined Team Ubuntu and I am folding as we speak.

    I am not sure how much I can contribute but I think it is an awesome concept.

    40 deg isn't anything to be worried about. Those new faulty macbooks and macbook pros have been reported as getting as hot as 80-90 before shutting down. That's when you know you have a problem.

    40 is fine. You should only be worried about a temp like that if it means that it is burning your lap or doing something else that is harmfull. These cpus can handle running at 70C just fine, and anything around 50 is totally acceptable.

    Wouldn't you know it, I just found the sigmaps on folding.extremeoverclocking.com, only to find out you can't put images in your sig. Oh well, this is what it would have looked like.
