Re: Ubuntu on Eee PC T101MT

Just upgraded to Kubuntu 12.04, and had a few minor issues -

One is that when I use the touchscreen, the next time I touch the touchpad the pointer automatically registers at the bottom-right corner of the screen (in my case, the click brings up a calendar).

Another is probably due to a user error on my part. I installed the v4lutils deb package from the FTP link on the community documentation page for the t101t, and while it works for Cheese, SKype is still upside down. Following the instructions on that page hasn't worked, perhaps because although the deb package was installed, there's no usr/lib/libv4l. Should I reinstall the package from the .tar? Seems unnecessary if the camera is already working for other applications.

I'll try to find any information in the X logs or in syslog, but up to now, i don't have any clue what the problem might be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm experiencing this same problem in Xournal with a first gen. It does not occur when I uncheck 'use Xinput.' I also notice that not by unchecking this box I don't get the annoying errors where I make dots through the tool panel to the canvas or where I get straight lines from the tool panel to the point I start to write unless I tap the canvas.

The mic is not detected correctly, it doesn't appear in the audio input window. However, it works: sound recorder works, skype works too.

Re: Ubuntu on Eee PC T101MT

I've also just upgraded to 12.04 (Kubuntu) and just wanted to confirm some touchscreen issues.

Having the same cursor jumping behaviour as Psykatog, the cursor will jump to the bottom right of the screen upon using the touchpad after the touchscreen.

I am also seeing problems with twofing. I've attempted using 0.0.9a, 0.0.9b and the repo version 0.1.0. The package appears to install correctly (twofing is in /usr/bin at any rate) however calling twofing from command line does not produce any noticeable change. Calling 'killall twofing' returns "no processes found", so I'm guessing that twofing is failing to execute.

However it could be a kernel update-driver issue causing both of these, I'm not sure.

    I hope this helps.

    Using the Plippo PPA packages
    Kubuntu 12.04
    Kernel - 3.2.0-24-generic
    KDE - 4.8.2

    1st Generation eGalax touchscreen.

I don't know if this matters, but I noticed that in 12.04 there is Ginn installed. Ginn captures screen events and send them as mouse/keyboard events. Maybe there is a conflict with twofing.
Also notice that applications (nautilus,evince,...) now have "native" touch scrolling thanks to Ginn.

Re: Ubuntu on Eee PC T101MT

Ginn was a good bet, but it's currently not installed on the device, so it doesn't look like that's the issue.

On the subject of Ginn, does anyone know if it would work with the T101MT? I might give it a go myself in a bit just to see.

As I said, I found it installed after my fresh install of 12.04. It gives you scrolling in every application. It should be possible to define gestures, haven't tried yet. I'll let you know.

    edit: I found this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1635401

edit2: This video shows that Ginn works well on T101MT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-6EzHruzX0
I have to understand why it only gives me 1-fingered gestures.

Cheers for the info, toying with this is certainly now high on my 'stuff to do that isn't work' list.

I tried the latest version (0.2.5) but it shows the same error.
I can say however that the single touch scrolling is not provided by ginn: it works even with ginn removed.
