  1. Re: CGMiner Install problems (but also my learning disability?).

As soon as I get some more time I'm going to try this. How well/how easy does this software do solo mining?
  2. Re: CGMiner Install problems (but also my learning disability?).

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I don't think I've ever heard of a personal package archive. There are some software that I want to just install easily and use and learn all of its details...
  3. CGMiner Install problems (but also my learning disability?).

I haven't posted here in quite a while since the credentials system was compromised and I kept getting an infinite loop that I was finally able to figure out. Anyway, my problem is that I can not...
  4. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll try that out! Thanks!
  5. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

Well, I have pretty much given up on this for now. I have been trying to figure this out for 3 weeks and I haven't been able to find any definitive information. Please post if you know the answer.
  6. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

OK, so, the way I thought of it was correct after all. Gnome 3 describes the version of the user interface and Gnome-Shell describes what the interface is made of that is not in user space.

    Thanks...
  7. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

So far my question has not been answered but I think I might be able to help you anyway.

If you gksudo gconf-editor, navigate to /apps/metacity/global_keybindings, you will see a list of the keys...
  8. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

So what is Gnome 3 and what is gnome-shell? Gnome 3 is a set of files, but it's not also its own seperate desktop environment? I haven't heard of gnome-shell before you mentioned it. What's the...
  9. Re: Broadcom Wifi card shows up as eth0, not solved by instructions from ubuntuforums

I guess no one is reading this thread any more. When a thread is marked as solved, does something happen that causes it to not be as visible, or do the contributors to the thread stop getting...
  10. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

I don't know about gnome-shell. I haven't learned anything about that yet so I couldn't be confusing it with Gnome 3. I'm gonna have to Google some Gnome+X stuff. I guess maybe that explains why...
  11. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, Gnome Classic, but I don't know which libraries the Gnome Classic environment are built upon. If you can tell me how to find out I will look and post the answer here.

  12. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

I'm using Gnome Classic. I tried for a long while to find a way to accomplish the task with the keyboard short cut settings but I don't think there is a way to do it using that. I changed some stuff...
  13. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

I have found a technique for changing the key bindings so that you can cause a key combination to run a command. It has worked for me yet but I'm not sure why. Maybe, as another post in this thread...
  14. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

Surely with an open source OS there is a way to change the software so that the Super key can be used as a stand alone short cut key! Given that maybe it's something I won't want to do once I learn...
  15. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

I don't run Unity and the Super key does nothing on its own. On the contrary, I won't be sacrificing any usability. I will be reducing three key strokes using two hands to one key stroke.
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to long in to 12.04, Log In loop. Guest session still working

I posted that edit in restrospect and I did well to remember what I did. The file names I used, .Xauthority and .Xauthority.bak were correct when I ran them, I just forgot to put those .'s in front...
  17. [ubuntu] Unable to log in to 12.04, Log In loop. Guest session still working

I have just tried to restart my machine and when the log on screen appeared and I attempted to log in to a Gnome Classic session, my password was accepted, and I saw some flashing /shell/text lookign...
  18. [gnome] Re: Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

Can no one help me? I have been searching far and wide, trying all kinds of suggestions I found on the internet, installed several pieces of software including xbindkeys which didn't work. There is...

    [ubuntu] Re: permantly remap keys

I am trying to do something similar. I want to map my Windows/Super key to open gnome-terminal. I have been trying to figure out how to do this for the last 3 days. I've spent probably 6 hours trying...
  20. Re: Broadcom Wifi card shows up as eth0, not solved by instructions from ubuntuforums

So listing pci shows all the pci's, not the hardware that is attached to the pci's, is there an option to list the hardware interfaced through the pci? Or does lspci list all pci interfaces as well...
  21. [gnome] Remap the "Windows" key to open Gnome Terminal.

I spent 15 minutes searching the forum for an answer to this question but did not find one. Perhaps I don't quite understand how the search system here works. Anyway, I'm trying to map my Windows key...
  22. Re: Broadcom Wifi card shows up as eth0, not solved by instructions from ubuntuforums

I would love to do any kind of testing related to Linux! I can't say I understand the output of modinfo wl but I am with the Linux community when it comes to this kind of issue. If a hardware company...
  23. Re: Broadcom Wifi card shows up as eth0, not solved by instructions from ubuntuforums

Before yesterday or the day before I wasn't aware that the ls command could be used to list hardware and software. I thought it was only used for files and directories. I'll be using ls quite...
  24. Re: Broadcom Wifi card shows up as eth0, not solved by instructions from ubuntuforums

I've been trying to figure out hwo to mark this thread as solved for 6 or 7 minutes. Can someone please tell me how to do that?
  25. Re: Broadcom Wifi card shows up as eth0, not solved by instructions from ubuntuforums

That's a good way to explain what was happening. I understand the concept pretty well now, I think. I'm afraid I couldn't do it as you suggest though. I had very little idea of what was happening. I...
