I have just installed 10.10 as a clean install. I had backed up some .exe files for wine and now when I try to change permissions by clicking the make executable box, the tick disappears almost...

As I was having problems with wine on the PC, I decided to try it on my laptop and everyhing worked first time.

Noticed that the 'windows' exe files all had a little wine symbol on the laptop but...

Not sure, but is it similar to when using a usb device in a virtual machine? ie you have to unmount it from the linux system for it to be seen by the virtual machine and possibly wine in this case?
