I'm wondering if it is something...

My Logitech c920 microphone doesn't seem to be working, but it was previously. The video does work, and the microphone shows up in the audio settings, and in alsamixer. Nowhere is it muted. The...
Seems I've managed to fix this, so I'm posting it here in case it's helpful (I don't know if the lack of replies means that no-one else has had this problem, but anyway...)

Hi Rasa,
great, lucky you! I've found that too - sometimes things just fix themselves (good Gremlins perhaps?). :-)
Alas the crashes on mine were getting more frequent, so I went ahead and went...
Hello,

Hello,
I've recently upgraded my Xubuntu installation to 9.10 (full install instead of upgrade). Generally happy with it, although I'm experiencing random system freezes, where the screen freezes...

I had the same problem with sound after upgrading from Xubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 - however I think I've found a fix for it. A new item "aumix" has appeared in the "multimedia" menu (I've got my system in...
Hello,
I've just upgraded Xubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 without any problems, except that now after logging in, it shows a blank light blue screen for 15 seconds or so before starting to load the desktop....
Hi,
well, xorg.conf is in /etc/X11/ and menu.lst is in /boot/grub/. You'll need to be root to edit them - the way I do it is to use the "nano" editor, like this:
sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf...
Hi,
well, to change resolution you should be able to go to "Desktop settings" in the configuration manager, which as well as the main menu I think you can access via right-clicking on the desktop....
I've managed to get it working! (well, once - we'll see if it breaks again) - it occurred to me that if I can start X as root after doing the

Sorted, I think - I read in this thread - http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-762497.html - (3rd post from last) that somone else had a similar problem and it was solved by removing the...
Hi,
alas no, it doesn't mention anything in there. Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi,
I forgot to mention I removed all the b43* lines from the blacklist, so I suppose it's using the native driver now. Can't find any reference to ndiswrapper in the log you mention, and I've...
Hi,
I tried what you suggested, adding those lines to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and rebooting, but that didn't work. There was already a line at the end of that file that was
