No change. A little dust came out, but not much. I'm going to try to hook it up to my laptop (also running ubuntu) and see if it has the same issue.

EDIT: it stayed on longer than usual, but the same monitor shuts off. seems like a hardware issue, but why it works in windows is beyond me...

I'm running 12.04 with a dual monitor setup. Both monitors have worked wonderfully since the beginning of the year. But the last few days my second monitor goes black after a few minutes of being on...

One last bump before the dive of reinstalling windows 7.

Just did this, no dice. odd thing is though, it didn't corrupt grub... however it did get startup repair working again. says all is well with windows. But I still have the same issue, blinking...
I tried it after deletion, since it failed I restored grldr and it still fails. it worked a couple days ago. but now it fails every time...
Herman: yes I used fixboot in windows recovery command...
Deleted it, no change.
Another thing to add to the list:
I just tried to repair windows startup through startup repair on windows dvd and it fails. tried 4 or 5 times and it failed every time....

Ok, I have searched the forums and tried many different 'solutions' and I still can't get back to windows. Here's the issue:

I'm no pro but my issues with transfer speeds have usually been solved by making sure that fstab doesn't have sync listed as an option on the drive being written to. hope this helps...

So, this remastersys does it basically make a disk that is your exact installation mixed with a livecd? or would i have to do a fresh install then import all my files and settings with remastersys?
64bit is all i run, i've been a fan of the 64bit processors for a few years now. im running ubuntu64 as we speak! It's wonderful!
