You need to search around Ubuntu forums. I eventually found my answer to the wifi problems. Alot of people had wireless problems, so you're not alone.

I too had problems with wireless with the upgrade to 8.10. I'm sure alot of people did too. I fixed it of course. I found everything I need in this thread....

then you need to put the mac address into your network connections under BSSID. I have mine under manual DHCP and now its...

I still can't get my wireless internet to work. I'm using a prism 2.5. It reads the networks and can only connect to them if you do manual DHCP. But no internet. All that works is hard wire.

Yea there have been Intrepid network problems only with wireless networking though. At least as far as I know. Pretty much everybody has problems with the network manager. We hope it will be fixed...

I'm closing this thread for now. Since everybody seems to have this problem, and nobody knows how to fix it. :(

I guess all we can do is wait for it to be fixed. Most of them say it only doesn't work with WPA type networks. For me it doesn't work with anything. They need to get this fixed soon.

I'm having troubles with connecting to a network wirelessly since the upgrade all that works is to hard wire it. To create a network however you would do that from your router.
