That's a pretty slick desktop there! ;-)
I appreciate it. I'm sorry, but sway (and anything similar to i3) just aren't for me.
I've tried fooling around with Arch a bit, but I guess I'm just set in my ways (I've been using dpkg/apt based distros since 2006). The package management is a total nightmare for me (YMMV).
This started off as a cli only install.
The "desktop 1" is the pager (desktop switcher) & the panel is tint2. Thanks for your comments, guys. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that enjoys the minimalist approach.
Hi, all! I just thought I'd drop a few screenshots of my desktop that I just finished (mostly). It's built on Jammy with slim, openbox, tint2, jgmenu, pcmanfm (managing the desktop), & other things...
I figured out the issue. Thanks for putting me on the right track. I deleted my launch script and changed the
X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=30
to
X-MATE-Autostart-Delay=30
I am currently unable to test (I'm working out of town at the moment). I'll give it a shot and report back when I'm back at home. Thank you for replying.
As the title states this only happens with MATE 1.18. The script is as follows:
#!/bin/bash
sleep 30 && wbar & exit 0
Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution? Thanks, y'all.
Here's mine:
OS: Ubuntu 12.04
Desktop: MATE
Launcher: wbar
Wallpaper: "Wild Wheat" by Brian Burt
No problem. I glad I could help. :)
Try changing this:
To this:
Command: java -jar /home/brad/.minecraft/minecraft.jar
This is the easiest way:

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Does anything change if you run this command:
sudo rfkill unblock all
(the soft blocked listing of hp-wifi from yes to no)
This is the part that's causing the problems. As far as the hard block, you might want to poke around the bios settings to see if it's been disabled or check the switch to make sure that it hasn't...
Post the output of this command:
ifconfig && iwconfig && rfkill list all
These are the same commands as earlier, I just want to see if everything is being recognized now and that there is no...
Okay let's try it this way. From a terminal enter:
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf
then enter the:
options ath9k nohwcrypt=1
My fault, you're using XFCE...gedit is not installed by default. Just replace:
gedit
with
mousepad
Okay, try this:
Press ALT+F2 and enter:
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf
In that editor copy/paste this:
Try:
sudo rfkill unblock all
Then reboot. If that doesn't work I think something else that I have up my sleeve just might. :)
Those are only for the graphics, not the wireless card. Could you please post the output of these commands:
iwconfig
rfkill list all
Did you try the suggestion from the first part of my post?
First, connect via ethernet, then Press ALT+F2. When the run prompt comes up enter
jockey-gtk
and press enter.
It sounds like you don't have the necessary firmware installed.
Just for...
