You just have to click on the time or on another icon on the welcome screen of lightdm and you are able to log in.

Since the latest version of Flightgear available in Ubuntu was version 2.6, version 2.10 has landed in Ubuntu Saucy to test.
If you boot your live cd of Ubuntu the top pannel is scretched.

I have installed Ubuntu saucy (28.August) today. It worked with my Ivy Bridge i5 3210M with Intel HD Graphics 4000. Yes I can see still this global big menu bar. Have you already filed a bug?
I have meant that it should be available in the official packages in saucy. But maybe we are already too late.
For all those waiting: I have made some time ago a bug report that GIMP 2.8.6 should be included in saucy.

Can confirm: I tried Ubuntu saucy-desktop-amd64 daily (23-Aug-2013 08:18) doesn't install in live cd mode.
