Resolution not fitting properly in 1920x1080

    Hello everyone

So I went out and got a 42" LCD on Black Friday, picked up a GeForce 9400 GT video card and have a DVI to HDMI cable hooked up.At first it would run in low graphics only, re-installed a couple drivers and now when Ubuntu starts up it detects my LCD and shows the correct resolution on the display of 1920x1080

Everything looks amazing but there is about 5% of the screen missing all around. For example I cannot see the top bar but if I go past the upper left and click my applications will drop down, I have AWN set to auto hide, when I mouse over it I can only see the top of the icons.

Anyone have an idea of how I can correct this?

    Thanks - Captain

What does hitting the "autoset" button on your monitor do?

    Hey Morphious,

My TV is a generic brand so it doesnt seem to have all the bells and whistles. I have looked through all the TV menu options and cannto find a way to adjust, re scan and aler the current out put.

A friend of mine believes it has something to do with overscan but I am lost.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks - Captain

I am also having this issue in Xubuntu 8.10. The monitor's autoadjustment seems to have no effect on the problem.
