Which flash version are you guys using, is it the one you get with the ubuntu-restricted-extras package?

I followed the instructions provided at the beginning of this thread as a first pass fix. I had Flashwave 10 prior to doing that but it wasn't working then either. As said earlier I managed to get it working for one day by changing the playback to an OSS Cirrus mixer but now that stopped working.
Ubuntu 11.04 x64, GNOME 2.32.1, Kernel 2.6.38-8
MB Asus P5Q-E, Onboard ADI AD2000B audio, 4G ram
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX,Core2 Quad Q9400
That matches what I had but I have since removed pulseaudio and now my youtube audio is working again. based on all the pulseaudio issues i see on this board i assume there must be a systemic problem with it. i'll wait and try it again in 9.04 hopeing something gets fixed. Assuming i need it at all.

Is pulse projected to be a POS in Jaunty too? Or is there hope?
Well, I am using the flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.15.3ubuntu1~intrepid1 on Intrepid amd64 and have no problems at all with it and pulseaudio on youtube or anywhere else.
The most likely problem that you people are having is that you did not follow all the directions in the OP or are using a bad flashplayer.
It is critical to set System/Preferences/Sound to Pulseaudio Sound Server and not to automatic. It is also critical to set the System/Preferences/Default Sound Card to PulseAudio. You also need all the packages in the lists and need to be fully updated.
Failure to follow these steps will result in exactly the problems you are having.
And yes, PulseAudio is in Jaunty. Right now it is pulseaudio 0.9.13 but will most likely be 0.9.15 which is the next stable release.
Thank you for this thread, it made my life so much easier
I make it as far as this line of the instructions:
"If any of the above is giving you problems, try rebooting."
Using 8.10, I followed the instructions line for line. I rebooted, and there are still no devices listed in the sound chooser. My card is detected, I have the login drum sound, and had oss sound in the xmms program before I started with these instructions. No sound in flash 10 however.
Since I had the drum sound I reasonably assumed it was a software problem.
There are 12 choices for output device in sound preferences. Only oss sound plays the test tone.
I have a turtle beach santa cruz sound card on an abit kr7a motherboard.
